“Type R” cars are better performing versions of popular vehicles, and consumers all over the globe have been waiting for the Civic’s for quite some time now. The North-America’s version sports an inline-4, 2-liter turbocharged engine (this model was assembled in the UK, but the engine was built in the United States) capable of producing up to 306 HP! A shocker considering that we’re talking about a Civic! The Type R model gives you 3 driving styles to choose from: “Comfort”, “Sport” and “+ R”. However, there is only one transmission available. It’s a 6-speed manual transmission, but does it really matter? Behind the wheel of a vehicle of this caliber, you’ll probably want to take control of the gears shifting anyway.
Not just another Civic (obviously)
Many elements (besides its power) separate the Civic Type R from its sisters. It’s delivered with three exhaust pipes (the middle one being specifically designed to reduce the noise when the driver goes crazy on the gas pedal) and only in the hatchback format. The suspension has obviously been improved with the addition of aluminum lower control arms and steering knuckles.
