The Honda Civic hybrid 2025 comes to life in Canada

The highly anticipated Honda Civic Hybrid 2025 has just made its debut on the production line at the Honda of Canada Manufacturing (HCM) plant in Alliston, Ontario. This is a first for this iconic model, now built in Canada as part of Honda’s ambitious electrification strategy.


A key step towards the electrification of Honda vehicles

Honda aims to ensure that by 2040, 100% of its vehicle sales in North America will be battery-electric or fuel-cell electric vehicles. The Canadian production of the Civic Hybrid represents a crucial milestone in this direction, with around 60% of all Civic sales in Canada expected to be hybrid versions.

The HCM plant underwent a significant $1.38 billion investment in 2022 to modernize its facilities in preparation for this transition. These improvements have secured thousands of high-quality jobs across Honda’s Canadian supplier network.


Technological and environmental innovations

Honda focuses on energy-efficient manufacturing processes and responsible sourcing of critical raw materials, particularly batteries for electric vehicles (EVs). Starting in 2028, Honda plans to establish a full electric vehicle value chain in Canada. This initiative will include the construction of new battery and EV plants, with an annual production capacity of 240,000 vehicles.

In addition to the 4,200 current employees at the Alliston facilities, 1,000 new positions will be created to support this expansion. This development will also benefit local suppliers and surrounding communities, further solidifying Canada’s role as a leader in the clean automotive industry.
